Sermon for the Third Sunday in Lent
March 24, 2019
Exodus 3:1-15
"I am the God of 'Father of many.' I am the God of 'He will laugh.' I am the God of 'He supplants."
We hear God often described as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Do we remember when we hear those names that they are all embedded in story, in the experience and journey of those they describe. The God who is calling Moses today is the God of story, of their stories and of our stories. Remembering that God is part of all our stories may help us to think about God as near and involved in ways we might otherwise miss. I invite us all into a bit of a Lenten meditation by asking, what might your name be in the language of your God story? JB
